The Rt. Rev. Robert Duncan, archbishop-designate of the Anglican Church in North America (ACNA), has announced that Mr. Brad B. Root has agreed to serve as the ACNA’s first Chief Operating Officer (COO). The ACNA unites Anglican Christians in both the United States and Canada as a body committed to reaching North America with the transforming love of Jesus Christ, rooted in both Scripture and traditional Anglican belief.

“Brad comes to us with not just a wealth of entrepreneurial experience and leadership ability, but also a depth of faith that makes him a wonderful fit for the needs of the new Church,” said Bishop Duncan.

Root, who serves on the vestry of Fox Chapel Episcopal Church in Fox Chapel PA, has a proven record of achievement in the business world, having been integral in the establishment of three successful start-up businesses and a non-profit corporation, the National Character Education Foundation. He is also a highly skilled resource developer, personally raising significant capital during his tenure as a managing director at McKinney Properties, Inc. and as partner at Brookwood Financial Partners. Root’s high level of personal energy is also evidenced by his completion of a transcontinental bicycle trek, and his continued training for and participation in endurance competitions.

"I believe God has called many of our Anglican brothers and sisters throughout the world to build this new Church in North America,” said Root. “So many before me have done so much to turn this vision into a reality. It is with a great sense of excitement, privilege and responsibility that I begin my service knowing that God doesn't always call the equipped, but trusting that he will equip the called!”

“We have always been blessed in the gifted and dedicated leaders that have served the Common Cause Partnership, and that blessing has continued on into the Anglican Church in North America,” said Bishop Duncan. “Let us continue to be thankful for God’s providence, as we keep Brad especially in our prayers as he begins his work with us.”

With the encouragement of the ACNA Executive Committee, Root has secured flexible headquarter facilities on “Gospel Alley” at Ambridge, Pennsylvania, near Pittsburgh International Airport, as well as alongside the headquarters of many of the new Church’s mission organizations and the campus of Trinity Seminary.
